Senior Programme Manager of Data Networks, a Silo of Network
Services UUNET EMEA.
Managed projects related Integration and standardisation of
multiple IP networks.
This included Hardware and Software upgrades, maintenances and
mainly expansion of the Core IP backbone at first, then all UUNET
networks within EMEA including Frame Relay, ATM, Data, Dial plus
their Management networks.
Trained over 120 people within Network Services on Project
Management and communication skills, in particular 12 members of my
own Projects team (both Project Managers and Coordinators).
Team Structure
Created a Project Office
composed of 4 functional teams: Planning, Finance, Projects and
Implementation totalling 31 individuals.Manager of a Projects team
composed of 7 Project Managers and 4 Project Coordinators and 1
Project Administrator spread geographically over EMEA in
Netherlands, France, Germany and UK.
IT
Conceived, wrote and implemented a Project Management Tracking
application in Perl, PHP and MySQL.
This tool allowed team members in Netherlands, France, Germany and
UK to respond to new requests, acknowledge them as projects, track
their evolution and report on progress.Migrated from Coda Cadenza
to SAP for Accounting, Procurement and Logistics.
Implemented new company-wide procedures to comply with the new
requirements this generated for teams within EMEA.
Project
Management
Project teams containing
up to 250 resources EMEA wide.
Managed 141 projects in 2000-2001 mostly organised in multiple
programmes.
Standardisation and integration of multiple legacy networks
inherited through acquisitions.
Migration of multiple AS (Autonomous Systems) into one unique
EMEA-wide AS.
Implementation of new technologies, products and new
suppliers.
Mainly dealing with Juniper M40, M160 for Core backbones and with
CISCO and Unisphere for Gateways.
Also Team restructuring and refocusing after multiple
organisational realignments.
Working in Silos with remote and/or virtual teams.
Involved in solving process issues and integration of legacy

related budget of $50m in 2002.
Budget in 2001: $87m
Budget in 2000: $100m
Accountable for achievement on Projects to the Director of Data
Networks (part of Network Services EMEA) and taking full
responsibility for new projects required by the 4 regional DATA
Networks managers.
Also involved in defining and implementing Global Processes by
analysis of procedures with Manager of Quality and Programmes in
collaboration with Manager Global Programmes.
